About This Lesson

Help your students deepen their understanding of polynomial graphs by working backward from the graph to the equation. In this lesson, they examine end behavior to predict the degree and the sign of the leading coefficient. They identify x-intercepts and match them to factors, observe how the graph crosses or touches the axis to determine multiplicity, and use a point on the graph to solve for the leading value. Students then write the polynomial in factored form and expand it to standard form when appropriate. Interactive checks for understanding support them at each step, making this lesson a strong fit for Algebra 2 or Pre-Calculus classrooms.
