About This Lesson

This lesson helps learners understand how to read nutrition labels accurately and avoid common mistakes. Students learn what information the law requires on a Nutrition Facts label, why serving size matters, and how calories and nutrients are listed per serving—not per package. The lesson also clarifies what Percent Daily Value (%DV) really means and explains the critical difference between nutrients to limit and nutrients to seek. Through realistic examples, interactive questions, and label analysis, learners build practical label-reading skills they can apply immediately to everyday food choices.
